Diffusers
The DSSE sloping beet diffuser consists of a double cylindrical inclined vessel in which the sliced beet is transported by two intermeshed helices. The slices are introduced at the lower end of the vessel and the slices are moving in ideal counter-current with the water- juice mixture as the water-juice by gravity runs towards the lower end of the diffuser. The continuous difference in sugar concentration between slices and juice ensures an efficient extraction at the lowest possible energy consumption.
The DSSE diffuser was invented in the DDS (Danish Sugar Factories) and has been installed in more than 25% of the worlds beet sugar factories.
